Marriages and metro carriages

Interesting article on the possible solution to gender discrimination and sexual harassment in Egypt, following on from this one a few weeks ago. Both make the point that a large-scale change in social mores is needed, which is hardly news. Diab’s point that segregation, supposedly a move sympathetic towards women, actually contributes to the problem strikes me as an important one. But for many it’s going to take a lot of courage to step into that mixed carriage.
