The summit of all fears II

Ahmadinejad got his day at the NPT summit, with Britain, the US, and other Western delegations walking out during his speech (which, true to form, overran by 600%), though he received applause from several members of the Non-Aligned Movement. He castigated the US for ‘threatening to use nuclear weapons’, reiterating that they are the only state ever to have actually done so, and called upon the UN and IAEA to take action over the American nuclear capability. The NAM echoed many of Ahmadinejad’s points, such as disappointment with the slow pace of disarmament of NPT signatories. Ahmadinejad’s grandstanding (he is the only head of state attending the conference) and willingness to defend Iran’s nuclear program show that Iran is not backing down so easily.
